I just a tedious walk over to Manhattan from Brooklyn over the brooklyn bridge. Took a stop at the City Hall Park, where there was this beautiful fountain in the middle. Decided to take some rest and sit on the bench.

I was looking at this small kid who was in some mood for some mischief. Slowly as he saw his mother move away from him to sit on the bench, he decided to take a plunge into the fountain. It was for his poor mom, who had come down for a peaceful walk at the park and ended up chasing the notorious kid. In the last pic u can notice the hand of the kid's mother, running to pull him off the fountain.

The ice-cream truck

After walking for over a mile and a half over to the other side of the Brooklyn Bridge, I was a bit tired and wanted to eat something. Something that would fancy my craving for hunger and cool me too. That very instance, my eyes fell on this ice-cream truck. My happiness knew no bounds; it seemed liked the luckiest day of my life! I waddled my way to the truck, reaching for my wallet, only to realize... I was living on plastic money past few days, and had no bills or enough coins at my disposal.

The desire to get my chocolate ice-cream was slowly fading away in front of my eyes. The laziness of not withdrawing cash from the ATM was going to cost me, and cost me dear. Seemed liked I would not be able to fulfill my aspiration. Darkness dawned upon me and I fell back on the park bench, sad and dejected.

It’s not what the ice-cream can do for you, but what you can do to get an ice-cream. These great words echoed in my ears, the battle might be over, but the war had not yet been won. I sprang on my feet in quest for an ATM, in search of ‘Bank of America'. Battling through the park, dodging the playing kids and their dodge balls, I skimmed & scanned every nook and corner of every street and every possible red hooded shop to find the ATM

Within a few minutes I was standing in front of a main branch of ‘Bank of America’ at Church Street. It had over 3 ATMs. The place was deserted and bore a quite grim look, as though it had just been raided by the Pirates of the Caribbean. I flung open the door, caught hold of an ATM, swiped my card, punched my PIN **** and got 2 crisp bills of $20.

Grabbed my transaction receipt, rushed out, and crossed the streets, closely watching the 'WALK' signals for pedestrians. I ran back towards the ice-cream truck, being more familiar with the terrain now, I easily dodged the kids, and came to a screeching halt in front of the ice-cream truck.

Fate, fortune, good-luck, destiny, providence… nothing was on my side. The efforts of a fat man to eat an ice-cream were wasted. The trust in fairy god mother of ice-creams was lost forever. A tired man I was, who was tried and tested in tiring times, with the greed of laying his hands on a delicious cold soft ice-cream in a nicely baked waffle cone.

As I fell on my knees tired and broken, darkness surrounded me and this time for real… my dreams just melted away… And to rub salt on the wound the truck just stood there, with the windows closed. I sat there staring at the truck, in sheer anticipation, one day, the window will open and the ice-cream man will sell ice-cream again and I will get a bite of it…

Time Square

This is the Times Square, the most maddening crowd in US. The place is not as populated a Bombay, but the enthusiasm is not less either. People just flock to this place, to see the billboards and signs, the place is simply amazing filled will light, and LCD TV's. All I can say is it's an AMAZING PLACE!

The flight and Hethrow Airport

I had a flight through British Airways BOM-NWK via Hethrow Airport, the first two pics are the airplane I was flying in. The next one is the Heathrow airport London. I had a 7 hours stopover there moved around and enjoyed the place. The airport is huge and highly commercial.

I guess the Indian airports should take some tips from them in commercialization.

The last one is my flight from Hethrow to Newark airport, the whole row was empty!! I enjoyed the flight. Saw "Departed", "Casino Royale", "The Incredibles" and slept for a long time...

3-4 kms from Captans Bungalow, after a small hike there is Thakurwadi lake. We are following an Adivasi dog, who was tamed by the Captan. The dog guided us to the lake and helped us come back. It was real fun to see the dog leading and we following it.

It was the perfect parody for Hutch, where ever you go, our network follows.

My cousin and her husband (Ekta & Deepak), along with my wife and me, had been on a bike trip to "Captans Bungalow", 3-3.5 kms uphill in the depth of Lonavala. We started the trip at 9:30pm in the night and reached the top at 10:15pm, where a scrumpcous chicken dinner (cooked punjabi istlye) was awaiting us.

This is on day 2 when we were moving back to Bombay. After "riding" in the Sahyadris. It was an amazing trip.

Lonavala - Expressway Flyover

The pics are the two ends of the flyover. From Bombay to Pune... While en route to Pune, I took a small break under this flyover. The 4 lane flyover spans over the whole town of Lonavala, to avoid the traffic entering the town and circumnavigate the outskirts of it.

Pune desperately needs such kind of infrastructure to take care of it's maddening, hooligan traffic, and keep it under control.

Gatha Temple

I was getting back to Bombay from Pune after visiting a client for my bike, but he was not ready to pay the price I was quoting. Finally getting frustrated I started back for Bombay enroute Moshi-Talegaon-Bombay. Closing in 2-3 kms before Talegaon, there was this amazing temple I could see from the main road.

The white brightness was amazing!! I decided to change my route and enter towards "Dehu Fata" 5 kms inside towards "Indrayani River" and saw this temple on the banks of the river.

This temple is called the "GATHA TEMPLE" and had been in construction since 10 years and will take another year or two before it is officially open for the general public. The temple is built as a homage to Santh (Saint) Tukaram.

The more is said the more gruesome it sounds, the two pics are one is a painting of the scene and the other the description of the incident.

Some one has chipped off the head of Gen. Dyer (the British responsible for the massacre). There were bullet marks on the wall, which were still preserved a remembrance to those who died in the non-violent protest, turned violent by Gen. Dyer.

Dad was bought up in Amritsar for the first 13 years of his life, and had visited jallianwalla baug. Things have changed massively over the period of time. The whole park has been uplifted for 5 feet above the ground.

This is one of my most sucessful attempts of "space photography" (what else can I achive at 3x optical zoom!!) The photograph was exposed for 30 seconds facing the orion belt in the sky early evening at 7:50pm. Due to winters the sun sets in earlier and hence the cool image.

The Golden Temple is one of the most magnificient buildings I've ever seen in my life. The entire complex is beautiful. The main temple is surrounded by a lake called the 'Sarovar'. Fishes are bred in the lake to keep it clean.

A person of any caste, creed or sex can enter the temple premises but on the pretext of having the head covered. The head needs to be covered by a cloth in a proper manner. Couples should not hold hands in the premises as all they should be thinking about is the holy one.

At night it looks even more amazing... The silence is amazing and the temple is truly peaceful.

I'm moving over to the US within a month now, and will have to sell my DEAREST bike before I leave. This is the most saddest part of the whole transition, before I left I wanted to do a bike trip, and a good one. This is a last bike trip in India I did on my dear bullet. I know my mom will fire me when she comes to know about it, but then IT WAS FUN!!! We touched an amazing speed of 120km/hr on the bike and it was TRUE FUN!!

We were trying wierd designs and tricks with a fuljadi [sparkler], making some random designs. The idea of a star was proposed by Shilpa [my wife] and it's Dhruv [my cousin] enacting the same. The camera settings were

ISO - 400
Exposue Time: 3 seconds

The pic has come out neat, the sparks look are really scary

Fireworks is what I promised, and fireworks is what I have. This is an amazing pic, I got my hands on. The pic was clicked on "multiburst" mode, where in the camera takes 16 shots in 1/30th of a second.

This was mostly publicised as sports mode, but i like to call it "firecracker mode" ;)

Toy decoys for kids: Chakri [wind mills] & Cars

This is low down version of windmill following the same principle. A toy man was selling his goods on the busy road.

A modern day merry-go-round where kids can sit and enjoy themselves driving the car in circles [makes me feel dizzy]. These are decoys to keep the kids busy while the moms can shop themselves to glory!!

Laxmi Road [the madness called shopping]

The madness of shopping can be truly experienced at Laxmi Road, Pune. People [read ladies] were frantically shopping, as though there would be no tomorrow for shopping ever!! Luckily my bike was in for servicing and I did not have to drive through this road... whew!!

Bal Gandharv

This is at Bal Gandharv [a cultural theater] in Pune, where we can see the number of lanterns laid out. The place was looking amazing. I really missed for not being able to carry my tripod to this place, else I might have got more amazing pics.

There were I believe over a 100 lanters in the vicinity.
