This is the central location, where the main Peshwa used to sit and hold a court for the locals. Any kind of queries and questions were answered here.
There is an interesting fact about the walls of Shaniwar Wada. During the 1964 floods in Pune, when the Panshet Dam walls had broken, it was Shaniwar Wada which protected the city from completely getting drowned.
